Tire Installation

Fitting a new set is more than swapping rubber. We inspect what comes off, mount and balance what goes on, and hand the car back ready for the road.

What is tire installation?

Tire installation is the job of taking your old tires off the wheels, fitting the new ones, balancing each wheel so it spins smoothly, and bolting everything back on correctly.

It sounds simple, and the mounting itself is quick. What matters is everything around it: checking the wheel for damage before a new tire goes on it, balancing to remove vibration, setting the pressure your vehicle actually calls for, and torquing the lug nuts to the figure in the manufacturer's manual rather than leaning on an impact gun.

Those details are the difference between a set that wears evenly for years and one that gives you a shake at highway speed within a month.

What we do

  • Check the vehicle in and confirm the tire size against the door placard
  • Remove the existing tires from the wheels
  • Inspect each wheel for cracks, bends and corrosion before refitting
  • Mount the new tires and seat the beads
  • Balance every wheel on a computerised balancer
  • Set tire pressure to the vehicle manufacturer's figure
  • Refit the wheels and torque the lug nuts to specification
  • Reset the TPMS where the vehicle requires it
  • Final safety inspection before the keys go back

When do you need this service?

  • You are fitting a new set of tires
  • Your current tires have worn down to the wear bars
  • You are changing to a different tire size or type
  • A tire has been damaged beyond safe repair
  • You are switching to a dedicated winter or summer set

How it works

  1. Vehicle check We confirm your tire size and look over the wheels and hardware.
  2. Removal The old tires come off and the wheels are cleaned and inspected.
  3. Mounting New tires are fitted and the beads seated on the balancer.
  4. Balancing Each wheel is spun and weighted until it runs true.
  5. Pressure Inflation is set to the figure on your door placard.
  6. Torque and check Wheels go back on, torqued to spec, then a final inspection.

Important information

We fit tires to wheels that are safe to use. If a wheel is cracked, badly bent or corroded at the bead seat, we will show you the problem and stop rather than mount a new tire onto it. Lug nuts should be re-torqued after roughly 50 miles - bring the car back and we will do it at no charge.

Frequently asked questions

How long does tire installation take?

Around an hour for a set of four, assuming the vehicle is straightforward and the tires are in stock. We will tell you at check-in if yours will take longer.

Do I need an appointment?

It helps a great deal. Booking a slot means a bay and a technician are held for you. Book a fitting and pick the branch and time that suit you.

Should I replace all four tires at once?

Where the budget allows, yes - a matched set behaves predictably. If you are replacing two, they belong on the rear axle regardless of which wheels drive the car, because grip at the back is what keeps the vehicle stable in a corner.

Do you need to re-torque my wheels afterwards?

Yes. Lug nuts can settle in the first few miles after fitting. Come back after about 50 miles and we will check the torque for free.

Can you fit tires I bought elsewhere?

Yes. Choose "Web Order Installation/Pick Up" when you book and bring the tires with you, or have them delivered to the branch.
